Fisheries Development Oman engage visitors with Sustainable Operations and Investment Opportunities at the Global Seafood Expo in Barcelona, Spain

Fisheries Development Oman (FDO) emerges as a beacon of sustainable excellence following its successful showcase at the Seafood Expo Barcelona in Spain from 23 – 25 April 2024. Drawing widespread acclaim for its commitment to sustainability and excellence in Oman’s fisheries sector, FDO stood out among over 2,000 European and global participants and welcomed more than 35,000 visitors.

Fisheries Development Oman attracted a diverse array of attendees eager to explore partnerships with an organization dedicated to responsible practices. The Expo served as a platform for fostering relationships with conscientious consumers and businesses seeking ethically sourced seafood products.

At the Expo, FDO’s booth prominently highlighted its diverse product range, including world-class pelagic fish operations, aquaculture products, and one of the largest canning and processing facilities in the Middle East. Visitors were impressed by FDO’s efforts to deliver premium-quality seafood while minimizing environmental impact.

With a focus on responsible sourcing and production, FDO seized the opportunity to explore new markets and segments at the Expo. The event provided a platform for showcasing FDO’s commitment to sustainability to a global audience, paving the way for growth and expansion.

Collaboration and investment in Oman’s thriving fisheries sector was a cornerstone of FDO’s participation as the company actively sought out like-minded organizations and stakeholders to invest in Oman. The positive reaction from visitors underscores the potential for impactful partnerships driving positive change in the seafood industry.

FDO and its subsidiaries proudly mentioned their certifications and accreditations, earning admiration from attendees for their commitment to quality and sustainability. European and global players expressed interest in partnering with FDO, recognizing the value of aligning with a reputable organization upholding the highest standards of excellence.

Salim Al Mamari, Group Investment Director of Fisheries Development Oman, expressed gratitude for the positive reception at the Expo, stating, “We are thrilled by the interest shown by European and global players in our wide range of products and services including our sustainable operations. The Expo provided an invaluable platform for showcasing our commitment to responsible seafood production fostering meaningful partnerships and attracting investment to Oman.”

FDO’s subsidiaries Oman Pelagic and SIMAK showcased a wide range of products and services, including sustainable aquaculture products, premium seafood offerings, and innovative processing solutions. Their participation further bolstered FDO’s success at the Expo, reinforcing the company’s reputation as a leader in sustainable fisheries practices.

Seafood Expo Barcelona, co-located with Seafood Processing Barcelona, is the world’s largest seafood trade event, attracting buyers, suppliers, media, and other seafood professionals from 150 countries.
