Biogrow: “Substrates created by growers for growers”
ShareShareShareShareShare

French farmers at the service of growers all over the world

Today, Biogrow is one of the leading producers of cocopeat substrates. Farmers across the world have been using our organic substrates for over 40 years. SARL VILA – a company belonging to French fruit and vegetable growers in the South of France – was at the origin of the brand Biogrow.

In the south of France, where our head office is located, our primary activity for decades has been growing fruit and vegetables. It’s thanks to this long-established experience that we’ve been able to develop our substrate range over the last 25 years. Our production sites situated in India, Sri Lanka, Brazil and the Philippines, produce ecological and efficient substrates for soilless culture systems across the world. Our presence in Europe, the Americas and Asia enables us to work closely with growers from all over the world in order to supply them with efficient substrate solutions whatever their growing practice or individual requirements.

Biotechnology – the engine of our development

Our substrate producers have been enriched by the practice of hydroponic culture and the use of organic substrates. On their own production sites in Brazil, India, Sri Lanka and the Philippines they are developing efficient and completely renewable substrates in collaboration with biotechnology researchers. These substrates satisfy consumers’ growing requirements for eco-responsibility since they are the cleanest and most renewable substrates to be found in the market.

Demanding quality approach

We create innovative substrates derived from biotechnology that comply with very demanding quality criteria. Rigorous and standardized quality controls are applied by Biogrow to ensure that the substrates deliver the same level of performance in all the sites. From production to shipping through to planting, samples are regularly collected by our Quality Control inspectors, and then transferred to the laboratory of each site for analysis. Humidity levels, levels of conductivity of materials, and the conformity of each order are checked.

Community

We are also strongly committed to supporting the local communities who work in partnership with us at our numerous
production sites. Donating school equipment and supporting local environmental and social projects is actively
encouraged at all our sites.

Sustainability

The world is changing and consumers are becoming more and more demanding with regard to ecologically responsible products that are eco-friendly, sustainable, pesticide free, organic, etc. It’s a big challenge for growers to change their ways of working and becoming sustainable can be a synonym of “big investment”. That being said, in spite of the
current challenges it’s a really exciting time to be a part of the substrates industry and see all the positive changes that
are happening, especially within the hydroponics sector, which is what we specialize in.

Growers all over the world are now looking for solutions to help them respond to this growing demand for planetfriendly food and that’s where we come in. Biogrow produces substrates that come from a sustainable resource and respect the environment. And with a number of new and exciting projects in the pipeline the future is looking bright.
