Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) is taking the halal agenda globally during the 8th OIC Halal Expo & 7th World Halal Summit being organized at Istanbul Congress Center during 25-28 November 2021by focusing on bringing together businesses to capture business-to-business (B2B) opportunities, as well as seeking government-to-government (G2G) cooperation.
Malaysian Halal Products and Services will be represented at Malaysian Pavillon with the participation more than 47 Malaysian companies looking for creating business opportunities and strategic collaborations through B2B meetings between 25-28 November.

MALAYSIA : LEADERSHIP AT HALAL ECONOMY
The world has recognized the halal industry as the new engine of economic growth. It can be seen from the increase of halal products in many countries which is not limited only to Muslim majority countries. The Halal sector is not limited to food and beverages only but also includes cosmetics, personal care, pharmaceuticals and services such as logistics and e-commerce ecosystem. Many countries have recognised the opportunities in the halal industry and are now racing to be the top halal providers. It is also an effort to cope with market demand that has gradually increase.
Malaysia remained a major global leader in the Halal economy, sustaining its top position in the Global Islamic Economic Indicators (GIEI) for eight consecutive years.
By bonding strategic ties among Malaysia and Turkey, it will open up many doors to halal economic system, and I am positive that this will only bring enormous impacts to both countries as well as to other countries’ – H.E Excellency Sazali Mustafa Kamal, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Republic of Turkey.
COLLABORATION WITH TURKEY – EXPANDED FREE TRADE AGGREMENT
Being strategic gateways to Europe and Asean region , Turkey and Malaysia have continously increased the bilateral trade volume mainly driven by the free trade agreement (FTA) that entered into force in 2015. Despite of the pandemic, Malaysia’s trade with Turkey from January-September 2021, still recorded a positive growth of 72.8% reaching USD2.83 billion.
