The mighty good apple is back, ideal for sharing and perfect for the second half of the season. 2022 recorded a yield of 4,250 tons from integrated production and 160 from organic.
A new sales season for Giga® by Marlene®, the large apple that is perfect for sharing, produced and marketed by the VOG Consortium. With a harvest of 4,250 tons from integrated production and 160 tons from organic, quantities of the new apple are double those of last year and it is now available in all VOG markets, with a focus on Southern Europe.
Giga® by Marlene® is a mighty good apple with unusual characteristics: 75/90 mm on average, two-tone with reddish shades on a yellow background, it has an excellent crunchy texture and is intensely aromatic. It is presented to consumers as the ideal apple to eat in company, sharing all its richness and goodness. Giga® has a long shelf life, performing at its best a few months after harvest and maintaining high quality even in the summer, which is why it is perfect for marketing in the second half of the season. In Italy, Spain and other selected countries, Giga® is distributed co-branded with Marlene®, the daughter of the Alps apple that symbolizes quality, origin, taste and well-being.

The characteristics of Giga® by Marlene® also make it particularly suitable for organic cultivation. “We will also have the first organic output this year,” continues Hölzl, “the Consortium has major development plans for this segment, so we eagerly await feedback from our partners.”
In the coming months, the new season will be accompanied by marketing initiatives and activities dedicated to selected customers. In Italy and Spain, Giga® will also be featured on national TV: an audio clip at the end of the Marlene® TV commercials scheduled for March and May will emphasize Giga®’s placement as a great apple to share.

Grown in the heart of South Tyrol – Südtirol, one of Europe’s most important apple-producing areas, Giga® by Marlene® will be available until the end of summer.
