New award for visionary future concepts for livestock farming and for decentralised energy supply – Deadline for applications 12 August 2022
At the EuroTier and EnergyDecentral 2022 trade fairs, the DLG (German Agricultural Society) will for the first time present awards for concepts and visions for animal husbandry and for decentralised energy supply that are in the development phase and not yet available on the market. The “DLG Agrifuture Concept Winner” award is intended to focus on solutions that can provide decisive impetus for the future viability of livestock farming or the decentralised supply of energy. All exhibitors at EuroTier and EnergyDecentral 2022 are eligible to participate. “The decisive factor for an award is that the concepts have the relevance and potential to improve good professional practice,” explains Ines Rathke, EuroTier project manager. “In the current debate, the livestock industry needs innovative visions and technical possibilities of how it could develop in the next five to ten years.” Marcus Vagt, project manager of EnergyDecentral adds: “The transformation of our energy supply is a huge challenge. For this, innovations and new smart concepts have to be developed and brought to the market. Especially for start-ups looking for investors, the “Innovation Award EnergyDecentral” and the “DLG-Agrifuture Concept Winner” awards are first-class seals of quality.”
An independent jury consisting of members of the Young DLG and other experts from the industry will present the awards to the winners. The following criteria are mandatory for the DLG Agrifuture Concept Winner award (50 percent of the total score):
- Innovative character
- Relevance for practice
- Applicability to other agricultural regions
- Chance of realistic feasibility
- Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations
Other criteria that can be selected are the concept or the technology (50 percent of the total evaluation), depending on whether they apply:
- Animal health/welfare
- Climate effects
- Water
- Biodiversity
- Sustainability
- Energy footprint
- Labour management
A shortlist of entries will be published in September, and the award ceremony for the “DLG Agrifuture Concept Winner” will take place on 17 November 2022.
