We all see cows scratching from time to time on trees, fences or barn walls and structures. This natural behaviour for a cow is part of its ethology and fulfills several functions: eliminating certain parasites or dirt, relaxing muscles, stimulating blood circulation all leading to activity that is satisfactory for her well-being.
In the pasture, there is no shortage of options. Trees and fence posts, for example, are naturally suitable for rubbing. In the barn, the situation is a bit more complicated: dairymen have installed rotating brushes to prevent cows from scratching on concrete walls as it represents a risk of injury. Unfortunately, the brush does not reach all areas, especially the underside of the neck.
Dairy Scratchy meets this need.
Dairy Scratchy is a rubber attachment that has a total height of 1.50m (59 inches). Studs are located on the upper section (1m or 39 inches) and the lower part (0.50m or 20 inches)) is smooth so as not to injure the hocks of the animals.
Dairy Scratchy can be installed on walls, posts or corners wherever cows like to scratch. We protect the wall and we look after the animal’s well-being. The system is passive and economical compared to electrified brushes. The dairyman can, therefore, multiply the scratch points in the barn allowing many cows to rub at the same time without competition or rivalry.
In addition to their well-being, the Dairy Scratchy stimulates blood circulation and contributes to cleanliness. It requires no cleaning or maintenance as the rubber studs do not accumulate filth. The Dairy Scratchy offers essential comfort to the life of cows in stables with a living environment closer to natural conditions.
