At AGRICONNECT 2023, where eco-efficiency and solutions for environmental farming businesses took center stage, we created a platform to revolutionize Southeast Asia’s farming industry. Together, we aimed to pave the way for a brighter future.
From May 24 to May 25, 2023, AGRICONNECT 2023, a highly specialized event organized by the German Agricultural Society (DLG) and VNU Asia Pacific, in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives as the official co-host, successfully concluded at True Digital Park in Bangkok, Thailand. The event brought together nearly 400 participants from 19 countries worldwide, uniting agriculture leaders and professionals.
Throughout the conference sessions at AGRICONNECT 2023, participants immersed themselves in rich and insightful content covering a wide range of topics. These topics included environmental protection, agri-finance for agri-future, smart farming, sustainability challenges and opportunities for German companies carbon neutrality in the cane and sugar industry, biogas as an alternative to crop residue management, business models in vertical farming, digital technologies for Thai farmers, empowering young smart farmers, agroecology, biopesticide usage, effective waste management case studies, carbon market regulations for the agriculture sector, and more.
Participants found each session highly informative and engaging, which led to fruitful exchanges of knowledge, experiences, and interactive Q&A sessions between speakers and attendees.
On the second day of AGRICONNECT 2023, May 25, 2023, attendees embarked on a series of enlightening farm visits, providing a firsthand look at sustainable farming practices and the integration of technology in agriculture across the region. Supported by the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL), these visits revealed invaluable insights into each management team’s achievements and aspirations.
At DiStar Fresh, CEO Mr. Sansin Sriphiromrak shared the remarkable success story of the farm. DiStar Fresh emerged as a leading superfood farmer, prioritizing total quality control and delivering captivating flavors. Their dedication to “zero pesticides” positioned them as champions of sustainable farming. Strategically locating their farms in urban areas facilitated local growth and distribution while reducing transportation-related emissions.
The Chia Tai Farm Visit in Kanchanaburi hosted by Chia Tai and True Digital, showcased impressive technological advancements. Dr. Wallapat Kaewumpai, the CSO of Chia Tai Farm presented a range of cutting-edge solutions. Their smart fertigation system and AI-compatible weather stationproved to be a game-changer, automating crop fertilization through sensor monitoring. The use of robotics for harvesting and delivery, spraying drones ensuring precise and efficient pesticide application, and seedling drones facilitating accurate and efficient seedling provision testified to their commitment to sustainable farming practices.
Guided by Mr. Poomipun Koosakul, Managing Director of Speedy Access, the farm visit highlighted their expertise in innovation and technology for plant growth. They emphasized the development of a control system tailored to the unique needs of different crop types. Whether it be indoor farming (Indoor/PFAL), greenhouse cultivation, or outdoor planting, Speedy Access showcased their mastery of advanced technology and agricultural equipment from renowned global brands.
The farm visits provided an extraordinary experience, showcasing the transformative progress occurring within the agri-food industry. Attendees witnessed firsthand the strides made towards sustainable and innovative farming practices. AGRICONNECT 2023 served as an exceptional platform for collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and inspiration, empowering individuals to shape a more sustainable future.
